Journey with us / Tohoku Prayer Drive

Apples grow on a tree outside Hirosaki City in Aomori Prefecture.
Tohoku is known for their rich farming communities. Half of Japan’s apples grow in Aomori Prefecture, our last destination for our prayer drive.

13 adults and 2 kids are traveling around Tohoku next Monday in three vans. Fun! Yes, it is fun traveling with fellow OMF missionaries, but that is not our only reason for this trip. We hope to step out of our usual routines and give this time to the Lord for Him to lead us in prayer for the work He is doing in Tohoku.

Since Tohoku is spread out in six prefectures, we decided to drive to each destination and pray. Pray on the way to our destination, pray at our destination as each missionary or pastor shares God’s work in that area, and pray as we go home from our destination.

We hope that you can join us in prayer wherever you are as we post prayer points and share God’s work in Tohoku, Japan, here on this page.

  1. Its 60 years since we were in Itayanagi and Kagagi …… we arrived by boat to Japan from Singapore in 1966 and visited these places on our way up to the Sapporo Language School 🙂 It was September … remember seeing the apples. Then at Christmas time we had just got engaged so were with Mike & Valerie Griffiths in Aomori City … remember a huge snowfall and spending the day on the roof digging off the snow.
Aizu Wakamatsu …. we have been there several times when we have visited our son Ben who has been living in Koriyama City for 23 years!
Natsukasii ….. God bless you all … will be praying with you …. in Jesus and His GRACE …. June.
